The Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA)
As an Executive Board Member at Large stared from Winter 2022, I served on CALA’s Executive Board as a 3-Year Term, which has over 600 members, making key decisions to support the association’s goals and initiatives. I initiated the Asian-Pacific Committee and participated in meetings to align with the association's objectives. Additionally, as a member of the Web Committee, I transferred CALA’s old website to a new platform for its 50th anniversary, enhancing user-friendliness, responsiveness, and accessibility. I set up a Google Non-Profit Account, transitioned the membership management system to Google G-Suite, managed the membership list, upgraded the email list service to Google G-Suite, and moved the website hosting to GitHub.io for better version control, code sharing, and cost savings. From Fall 2018 to Fall 2021, I maintained and updated CALA’s official website using Drupal 7, created, edited, and deleted web content, and acted as the primary contact for website backup and restoration as a Web Team Member. As a member of the Advertisement Committee, I managed job advertisement requests, generated invoices, sent notifications, and created web posts, contributing to an annual revenue of approximately $50,000. In the Elections Committee, I helped initialize election e-ballots using Lime Survey, managed the election platform, distributed surveys to 650 recipients, and collected 246 completed votes.
The CALA Midwest Chapter
As the Immediate Past Chapter President from Fall 2023 to Summer 2024, I provided guidance to the current President on leadership, organizational, and collaborative skills, and supported the professional development of chapter members. During my tenure as Chapter President from Fall 2022 to Summer 2023, I led and managed the chapter team, prepared for the annual meeting, and collaborated with the National CALA. I established three new awards to recognize outstanding member achievements, oversaw recruitment and training of new executive board members, organized online social events for member engagement, and coordinated logistics for the Annual Meeting. As Vice President from Fall 2021 to Summer 2022, I led monthly meetings to discuss chapter development, enhanced communication between chapter members, and increased virtual outreach. From Fall 2019 to Summer 2021, I served as Chair of the General Affairs Committee, acting as Webmaster, Treasurer, and Public Relations Representative. I maintained the chapter’s official website in WordPress, managed payment distributions, and generated financial reports. During my tenure as Chair of the Web Committee from Fall 2019 to Fall 2020, I led a team to update the official website, generate news posts, organize files, and manage email lists.
The CALA Southern California Chapter
In my role focused on website development and content updates from Spring 2022 to Summer 2022, I collaborated with chapter members to enhance website design and functionality, ensuring content was up-to-date and relevant, thus promoting the organization’s mission and events. In Winter 2020, I designed a conference advertising poster for the “Tributes to Dr. Sun Yat-Sen” event to contribute to the success of international cultural communication.
CALASYS (CALA Academic Resources and Repository System)
As a Committee Member from Fall 2019 to Spring 2021, I upgraded the Omeka Classic version for the CALASYS website, added plugins to enhance functionality, and implemented custom CSS code to update the layout and design.
